Jo Standen
I studied with Gemma Grinter for 2 years and qualified with Friends of Yoga (FRYOG) as a Hatha Yoga Teacher in 2013.
In 2021 I completed my 500hrs teacher training with Victoria Bedford Dip.Fryog.
I began teaching in Waterlooville immediately and have organically grown my classes since then.
I have a particular interest in Yoga for Teenagers and gained my Teenyoga qualification in 2018, training with Charlotta Martinus. I work with Crookhorn College, offering selected student year groups the opportunity to try Yoga as part of the college PSHRE timetable.
I offer 1-1 and small group yoga classes for young people in KS3 and 4. Please contact me for more information if you are interested in yoga for your teens.
I am also a yoga instructor for Havant Borough Council’s Get up and Go programme. Get Up and Go is a Havant borough project funded by Hampshire County Council. The aim of the project is to help encourage everyone to move more, especially those who are not active due to a health condition or struggling financially. Activities with limited spaces will be prioritised to these residents of the borough. We know that physical activity can bring a multitude of physical, mental and social benefits to us all.

Frequently Asked Questions
What to wear Dilema!
It is perfectly possible to do yoga in a scruffy old tshirt and a pair of trousers or leggings. It is not necessary to spend a fortune on a fancy kit. The most important thing is to be comfortable. Think elasticated waists and stretchy tops. Wear layers as you may get warm during asana practice and will cool down quickly during the relaxation part of the class.
Your Mat
You will need to bring your own mat but if you are new to yoga I can provide one for you to borrow. Just let me know beforehand.
Blankets
Bring a blanket. This is so useful, folded up it can be used to sit or kneel on and unfolded it keeps you warm during relaxation time.
Optional extras
Yoga blocks and straps are useful tools to help you get more out of your practice. If you have them, bring them! Eye pillows, again great for the end of class. Reusable water bottle.
The ultimate anti-aging secret? Take up yoga! Yoga is literally the fountain of youth. In our busy lives many aspects of the ancient yoga philosophy help us cope and truly thrive, one practice at a time.
Countless studies are emerging which show that yoga is good for everything from balancing hormones to improving flexibility.
It’s never too late to start yoga and it is important to feel free to try different teachers and class styles to find your perfect fit!!
